Doubs (River) French river
A famous trout river in the Franche-Comte region of France. The river originates in the border regions of France and Switzerland, it flows north and forms the national borders. It changes direction to southwest in Audincourt, passes along Besancon, and joins River Loue near Dole.
It is an ideal river for fly fishing as it flows slow, its bottom is covered with pebbles, and it is easy to wade. The water quality is excellent, and there are many grayling and big brown trout. This is an internationally famous river often visited by Charles Ritz. The best fishing spot is the 25 km section that forms the national border with Switzerland.
